Osie Adja Tekpor VII, Paramount Chief of Avatime, has appealed to citizens of Avatime to troop home with friends to celebrate this year’s brown rice festival and savour the scenic beauty of the area.

He said this at Dzogbefeme where he performed a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a 150,000 Ghana cedis ICT, library and community centre complex.

The Chief said permission was being sought for public servants from the area to attend the celebration which is under the theme “unity and development in Avatime through rice cultivation and eco-tourism.”

The festival would be celebrated from November 3 to November 10 with a grand durbar on Saturday November 9.

He said “the festival aims to promote the cultivation, consumption and other economic benefits of this crop,” and would afford the people the opportunity to raise funds for projects in every town which hosts the festival.

This year’s festival is being hosted by Dzogbefeme.

Avatime Traditional Area is said to be the highest human settlement in Ghana with temperate climatic conditions, interlocking hills clothed in lush vegetation and breathtaking scenery.

Apart from its delicacy, the brown rice described as its “cultural food,” Avatime is also a major food basket with its “proverbial” bananas as its trademark.

Osie Adja Tekpor therefore asked his people to come along with their friends and investors to explore the immense opportunities for investment and business to help create better living conditions back home.
