Government continues to support children in deprived communities across the country with free school uniforms to get them in the classrooms.

The effort which is aimed at increasing the literacy percentage in the country to accelerate development and reduce poverty has already witnessed some increase in enrolment in a number of schools.

In the Nkwanta South District in the Volta Region, the district chief executive distributed over 600 uniforms to kindergarten pupils in three communities including Bena, Akyem and Kue.

He said this would take away the burden on parents and those children would have been denied education because of lack of money will benefit from formal education.
He expressed optimism that just as the first expansion of the school feeding programme the number of beneficiary schools increasing from 3-24, the next expansion will hopefully cover all the deprived school.
