About thirteen organized women groups in the Nkwanta South District in the Volta Region have received assistance from the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC).

The loan facilities have been extended to these small scale business groups to help them improve and expand their enterprises.

District Chief Executive for the area, Joseph Nyofam Ninkab who disclosed this to Ghanadistricts.com indicated that the groups are engaged mostly in gari processing, cassava cultivation and petty trading.

He said the contributions of small scale enterprises is very significant to the quest for poverty alleviation and requires such assistance this to survive.

He noted that, though there are potentials for these groups to expand their businesses, access to affordable loan facilities has always being an obstacle. Most small scale businesses cannot survive on bank loans that come with high interest rates hence government intervention with the MASLOC was positive.

He advised beneficiaries to work hard to pay back the loan to allow others to also benefit.
