Three hundred and six individuals from various households in 8 communities in the Nanumba South District in the Northern Region have benefited from a GHS 4,842.00 Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) facility to ease their economic burden.

This amount of cash transfer facilitated by government through the LEAP programme to the poor and vulnerable in the rural and deprived communities in the area will among other things ensure that such persons that are without any subsistence support as well as people who are not in any productive capacity will be covered under the facility to improve their livelihood.

Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com the District Chief Executive for the area, Alhaji Seidu Amidu, disclosed that the monies have been duly disbursed to eligible beneficiaries in the district.

He intimated that the implementation of the LEAP has managed to alleviate the social plight of the extremely poor and those with relative vulnerability, as this programme has created the opportunity for beneficiaries to improve their living conditions and general wellbeing in society.
