DCE hands over mechanized boreholes to 4 communities

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Berekum West in the Bono Region, Mr. Isaac Osei on Monday handed over four mechanized boreholes to some communities across the district.

The communities were Nanasuano, Amomaso, Abansere and Amankokwaa.

At separate commissioning and handing over ceremonies, the DCE stated that the provision of potable water to the citizenry was high among government’s priorities and that his administration is determined to ensure that this comes to fruition.


He said, the project, which cost about GHs 110,000 each was funded through the District Development Fund (DDF).

Mr. Osei warned against the misuse of the facility and tasked the leaders of the beneficiary communities to put in place systems that would enable the collection of levies for routine servicing and maintenance.


Some residents of the beneficiary communities expressed their appreciation to the Assembly for the prompt responds to their drinking water needs.

A farmer at Nanasuano, Maame Adwoa Nko who spoke in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, shared her excitement about the mechanization of the borehole and said it will make fetching of water a less tedious chore, especially for children.

Mr. Yaw Baah, a cobbler at Amomaso commended the government for its efforts at improving the lives of the people and appealed that, access roads in the community be graded to make them motorable.
