The presentation ceremony was held at the Assembly premises in Juaso on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, as part of the national rollout of the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP), a government initiative aimed at equipping young people with practical technical and vocational skills to establish sustainable livelihoods.

The event brought together the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, the Municipal YEA Director for Asante Akim South and representatives from the YEA National Headquarters, who supervised the official distribution of tools and equipment to the beneficiaries.

The startup kits covered various vocational trades, including dressmaking, tailoring, cosmetology, welding, electrical installation and carpentry.

While master craftspersons received instructional tools and operational support to strengthen their training centres, graduate apprentices were presented with trade-specific toolkits to help them establish their own workshops and begin independent business operations.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah emphasized the importance of technical and vocational education in creating employment opportunities, reducing poverty and promoting economic independence among young people.

She urged the beneficiaries to put the equipment to productive use, develop their skills and build viable businesses rather than sell the items provided to them.

Representatives from the YEA National Headquarters commended the Asante Akim South Municipal Directorate for its coordination of the programme and reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting the beneficiaries beyond the initial distribution.

The Authority also indicated that post-distribution monitoring visits would be conducted to assess the progress of beneficiaries, provide business management support and track the growth of enterprises established under the programme.

The intervention is expected to strengthen vocational training, encourage entrepreneurship and provide young people in the municipality with the tools needed to transition from apprenticeship training into self-employment.
