Asante Akim South MCE plants trees to mark Green Ghana Day
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante Akim South, Mr. Alexander Frimpong, has planted some trees at the forecourt of the new municipal assembly block and other places to mark this year’s Green Ghana day.

He was accompanied by the Kyidomhene of Juaso, the presiding member for the Assembly and other stakeholders in the area.
The Green Ghana Initiative is under the theme: “Mobilizing for a Greener Future “seeks to create a collective action towards restoration of degraded landscapes in the country, mitigate climate change and inculcate in the youth the values of planting and nurturing trees and their associated benefits.”
The MCE said the assembly and Forestry commission has distributed 500,000 different seedlings to various communities and therefore urged each Citizen to plant at least one tree.
Mr. Frimpong said efforts at restoring Ghana’s forests in the past had not been effective and forceful, hence, the Green Ghana Project which is to drive efforts towards an aggressive afforestation programme to restore the lost forest cover of Ghana which contributes to the global efforts to fight climate change.
