Social welfare department distributes items to PWDs

The Social Welfare Department of Atwima Mponua district organized a distribution event on Thursday, May 9th, 2024, wherein items were allocated to 39 physically challenged individuals within the district. This initiative aimed to provide support and alleviate the challenges faced by this demographic group.

Mr. Carlton Mawulorm, representing the Social Welfare department, commended the government for its efforts in supporting individuals in need. He urged the beneficiaries to utilize the provided facilities effectively, acknowledging the government's implementation of software to streamline the selection process.

Mr. Samuel Gyan emphasized the capabilities of individuals with disabilities and advised against reliance on alms.

He stressed the importance of ensuring that the distributed items are utilized appropriately, instructing the officer in charge to conduct follow-up visits to audit them regularly.

Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo, the District Chief Executive, called on the beneficiaries to advocate for the government's initiatives. He highlighted the significance of individuals with disabilities in nation-building and assured ongoing support from the government.

He further assured the beneficiaries of ongoing support from the government and encouraged them to promote the government's efforts and the many social interventions. Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo reiterated the importance of taking care of the provided resources and urged beneficiaries to vote for the ruling government to support its social interventions.

The beneficiaries received various items tailored to their needs, including educational support, deep freezers, sewing machines, Hair dryers, barbering kits, startup capitals, farming equipment, and wheelchairs.

The distribution event underscored the government's commitment to social welfare and inclusivity in the Atwima Mponua district. The speeches delivered by officials highlighted the importance of the effective utilization of resources and the empowerment of individuals with disabilities.

The event concluded with a call for continued support for the government's initiatives and advocacy for the rights of individuals with disabilities.
