36th Farmers’ Day Celebration marked at New Juaben North Municipality
New Juaben North Municipal Assembly held its 36th Farmers Day celebration at Asikasu in the Eastern region.

The Member of Parliament for New Juaben North Constituency and the Deputy Local Governments Minister, Hon. Nana Kwasi Adjei Boateng, urged the youth to take advantage of the Government's flagship programs such as the Planting for Food and Jobs and the Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) to improve their livelihood. He stressed that Ghana as a nation has food in abundance due to the hard work of the local farmers.
The Member of Parliament added that prices of Fertilizers have reduced so he entreats farmers in the Municipality to grasp this opportunity to improve upon the Agricultural growth of the country.
The Municipal Chief Executive of New Juaben North Municipality, Comfort Asante advised children who are into farming to also participate in the Governments' Free Senior High School program given to every child within the country.
Madam Comfort Asante, in her remarks also stated that the Government recognized the important role of farmers in the national economy hence the introduction of the Planting for Food and Jobs and the Planting for Export and Rural Development to enhance the livelihood of farmers and said due to this initiative program foodstuffs were able to be transported to other countries like Togo and Burkina Faso.
The Municipal Agriculture Director Mr. Courage Narh said the planting for food and Jobs program introduced by the President, His Excellency, Nana Akuffo Addo was the reason why foodstuffs are available at the market during this Pandemic.
Mr. Courage Narh added that the NPP Government has massively transformed Agric business so each and everyone should make good use of it and urged people of the New Juaben North Municipality to get in touch with Agric extension officers so that they will know how to handle any challenges in the farming Industry.
The 2nd runner up AFI ADWODI won a Mountain bicycle, spraying machine, 2bags of fertilizer and a safety boot.
1st runner up Clement Owusu won Motorcycle, spraying machine, safety boot and 3bags of fertilizer.
The winner George Kennedji won a tricycle, spraying machine, cloths, and bags of fertilizer
The winner of this year’s farmers' day celebration, Mr. George Kennedji who won a tricycle, spraying machine, cloths, and bags of fertilizer, urged everyone to engage in the farming business because it has helped him to build his house. He stopped his carpentry business and ventured into the Agric business.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of the Member of Parliament of the New Juaben North and the Deputy Local Government Minister, Nana Kwasi Adjei Boateng, the Municipal Chief Executive of New Juaben North Assembly, Hon. Comfort Asante, Chiefs of Asikasu and Jumapo, the general public, and the Media.
