This initiative has come as a result of research by Research Extension Laison Committee (RELC) to find out on their field and how to solve the problems. The training brought together 15 farmers from the Municipality who engage in cereals and legumes, roots and tubers, fruits and tree crops, poultry and livestock.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Comfort Asante said it is good to be part of these training to equip the farmers to cultivate well and to produce higher yield in order to get money to take care of their children in school because education is very important.

Madam Joyce Ama Ametepe , the head of the extension officers at New Juaben North Assembly took participants through cereals and legumes constraints, possible causes and its possible solutions.

She cautioned farmers about the time of planting seeds, depth of planting hole, soil nutrient deficiency among others.

Mr. William Asiedu, the head of crops, explained the constraints, possible causes and possible solutions.

In his discussion, he said inability of a crop to bear fruits is normally due to diseases and insect infestation and source of planting material and therefore urged the farmers to apply systematic chemical and also acquire good planting materials and others.

The veterinary head, Madam Ruth F. M. Teye, said the poultry’s main constraint is normally due to inactive birds and pox on the face.
She stressed that possible causes are the disease malnutrition, worms, and weather conditions.

She added that, possible treatment was to provide adequate balanced feed, deworming of birds and also vaccination and treatment.
