38th Famers day celebration

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly today awarded eighteen (18) farmers in the municipality. The 38th National farmers day was organized at the forecourt if the Oyoko chief’s palace where a 37 year bold university graduate from suhyen, Mrs. Portia Owusu Sekyere, the chief of executive officer of YAKAAB poultry and crops farms was adjudged the overall best municipal farmer.

She has four (4) aches of coconut, twenty (20) acres of maize, twenty (20) acres cocoa, and ten thousand (10,000) pieces of layers, among others. She took home a knapsack spraying machine, machetes, half piece of cloth and 58 inch flat screen television set.

Madam Portia thanked all the farmers who contributed to her success and debunk the notion that farming is for illiterates. She urge graduates especially women ventures into farming since is a lucrative business.

The New Juaben North Municipal Chief Executive, Madam Comfort Asante, commended the farmers for contributing greatly to the country’s economy. She said that planting for food and job’s policy introduce by government is yielding a positive result. Hon comfort Asante said government will continue to invest in agriculture to ensure food security in the country.

Mr. Abraham Tetteh from Asikasu grabbed the first runner up award while Madam Leticia Adjie from Oyoko was adjudged the second runner up.
