After the election of Assembly Members and Unit Committees in December 17, 2019, the Assembly decided to go into sitting today 23rd January 2020 to elect PM who will preside over Assembly proceedings but proved wrong due to some political identities on the part of some the Assembly members.

The race was between the two 2019 candidates (contestants) namely Yayah Trawule who placed first on the ballot paper as well as Osei Abraham who also placed second on the ballot paper.

The election which went for the second round stood at the same results as each of the candidates obtained 23 votes for the first candidate on the ballot and 17 votes for the second candidate on the ballot.

Per the standing orders of the constitution which was explained to the General House by the District Electoral Commissioner, Madam Diana Asaomoah, a candidate should obtain 2/3 of the House which made up of Hon. Elected Assembly, the Government Appointees and the DCE making 40 electorates voting which means, a candidate should obtain 27 valid votes out of the 40 members of the House but after all none of the candidates was able to obtain the recommended votes as per the standing orders.
