Unfortunately, the Assembly again failed to achieve this feat after rounds of elections.
The race was between the two old candidates, thus, Yayah Trawuley of Shiekumolor Kato and Osei Abraham of Kokoa New Town Electoral Area. Yayah Trawuley placed 2nd on the ballot while Osei Abraham also placed second on the ballot.
The Jaman North District Assembly has 40 Members including the DCE. However, yesterday's meeting witnessed 39 members due to the absence of Nana Yaw Bediako (An Appointee).
Per the standing order of the Assembly, a candidate should obtain 2/3 of the House representing 27 valid votes.
At the end of the first round, Yayah Trawuley polled 23 votes with Osei Abraham polling 16 votes with no spoiled ballot.
The House, therefore, went for the second round and at the end result stood the same.
The House per the standing order of the Assembly agreed the candidates should step aside to make way for fresh aspirants.
The fresh aspirants were between Tor Kofi Emmanuel of Kokoa New Town Electoral Area and Twene Emmanuel of Asuokor Electoral Area. Again, the election went for two rounds and none of the candidates was able to emerge the winner.
At the end of the first round, Twene Emmanuel of Asuokor Electoral Area polled 22 votes with Tor Kofi Emmanuel of Kokoa New Town Electoral Area polling 17 with no spoiled ballot.
The House, therefore, went for the second round and at the result stood at 23 votes for Twene Emmanuel and 16 votes for Tor Kofi Emmanuel.
The House again per the standing orders resolved that a member of them should be selected to preside over any of their sittings for that particular sitting only.
