LAWRA: 43 communities get mechanized boreholes to manage COVID 19
As part of efforts to improve access to a clean and constant supply of potable water and addressing the acute water shortage, the Member of Parliament for the Lawra Constituency in the Upper West Region Anthony Abayifaa N-Yoh Puowele Karbo has commissioned boreholes in three (43) communities.

This support was targeted at improving the health needs of the beneficiaries, especially in the period of the COVID -19 pandemic.
The communities before the intervention walked long distances to draw water from the existing hand pump borehole.
The mechanization reduced the distance by about 400m closer to the communities, and pipe to two different points with sprouts and connected to a 10,000 litres storage tank for each of the communities.
The beneficiary communities, Sia/Haiyon, Zambo-Kpee, Korkori, Dondori, Zambo-Baagang, Tampie, Kondopie, Touri-Baapari, Lawra Catholic Church, Lyssah-Gynvuur, Dowini-Tansil Boo Naayir amount host of others.
The Chiefs and representatives of the communities expressed appreciation to the MP for the intervention and pledge to maintain the facility regularly extend the lifespan of the facility.
Residents in the three communities expressed appreciation for the timely intervention and emphasized how they were previously left without option but to trek miles to access water from rivers that are fast drying up.
Mr. Athony Ba appealed to the leadership of the Communities to take good care of the facility to prolong its life span and advised that they constitute a committee to maintain the facility.
He further urged them to observe all protocols given by the Ghana Health Service to avoid contracting and spreading the virus.
