N JUABEN N: Farmers receive seedlings
The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly together with the Municipal Agriculture Directorate has presented sixteen thousand four hundred (16,400) palm seedlings to some farmers in the Municipality.

The communities include Asikasu, Suhyen, Jumapo, Oyoko, Asokore, Mpaem and Effiduase in the Eastern Region. The distribution was to promote good Agriculture development in the country.
The ceremony which was held in Asikasu seedling hub forms part of the governments Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) Programme.
The programme aims at decentralized National Tree Crop to promote rural economic growth and also improve household incomes of rural farmers through the provision of certified improved seedlings, extension services, business support and regulatory mechanisms.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Madam Comfort Asante thanked the President for initiating the programme towards the realization of the Ghana Beyond Aid Agenda. She said, the Government of Ghana through a joint effort by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Food and Agriculture rolled out the PERD programme to develop various varieties of crops.
She revealed that the programme seeks to create sustainable raw material base to spur up the decentralized industrialization drive through One District One Factory initiative.
She advised Farmers to embrace the program to enhance effective agriculture development in the country and promise to embark on the second phase of the program at Akwadum in a few months’ time.
The Municipal Agriculture Director, Emmanuel Courage Narh explained that his outfit is working tirelessly to ensure that the objective of the program is achieved.
He also added that more seedlings will soon be given out to other farmers in the
Municipality.
