She said this in a fraternal message to the general public at this year’s occasion of World Blood Donors Day celebration at Koforidua.
In her message, she stated that donating blood is an act of goodness because many hospitals and clinics are in constant need of blood for different purposes.
She added that on an average, the human body has around four (4) to five (5) litres of blood which can be donated every three months in the case of men and every four months in women.
She emphasized that there is no truth in the view that donating blood can be harmful to one’s body. She also craved the indulgence of the public to donate blood in order to save lives, adding that sufficiency of blood can help in the treatment of patients without any complications.
The MCE commended the organizers and all stakeholders who had a part to play in founding and nurturing of the World Blood Donation day and also for their thoughtfulness and deep sense of concern for mankind in coming out with the theme, “Blood Donation in Emergency: What Can You Do? Donate Now, Donate Often”. The theme for the programme is most appropriate for the occasion, she added.
Madam Comfort Asante reminded the audience that no one has the ability to make blood and it is a gift that everyone has so as we freely give to those who are in need, the gift of sharing is expressed.
