N JUABEN S: Traditional Council, Assembly present PPEs to health centers, markets

The Traditional Rulers of New Juaben led by Nana Yaw Amponsah Boateng (Akyempemhene) in conjunction with the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly presented Personal Protection Equipment’s (PPE’s) to some selected health institutions and markets in the municipality.

The beneficiary institutions include the Eastern Regional Hospital, Poly Clinic, National Health Insurance Authority, and two markets being; Central market and Juaben Serwaa Market.

Each of the five places was presented with the items received equally, 5 veronica buckets with stands, 5 packs of hand tissues, 2 boxes of liquid soaps, 2000 pieces of nose masks, 200 pieces of hand sanitizers, 10 pieces of rubber aprons and 2 boxes of surgical face masks which were only given to the Eastern Regional Hospital and Koforidua Polyclinic.

Mr. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi, Municipal Chief Executive said the presentation of the PPE’s was initiated and collaborated with the Assembly by his able leadership, Prof. Emeritus Nana Oti Boateng, the Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Council.

He advised Ghanaians to comply with the washing of hands, social distancing, and nose masks wearing and all other protocols needed to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.



The MCE said the virus has no respect for status in life. He continued and confirmed that “the coronavirus took the life of Hon. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John”. He, therefore, pleaded to all Ghanaians to respectively help fight against this pandemic to pave the way to carry our normal or daily routine work.

On behalf of Pro. Emeritus Nana Oti Boateng, the Akyempemhene of New Juaben Traditional Council, Nana Yaw Sarpong Boateng called the citizenry to comply with the directives given by the authorities and equally share and put the good use of the PPE’s being received.

At the Eastern Regional Hospital, Dr. Amponsah Manu from the surgical ward received the items on behalf of the hospital and thanked the authorities for their support to the hospital to help safeguard the health officials from the COVID-19.

Dr. Ekow Kaitoo who is the Municipal Health Director thanked the traditional rulers and the Assembly after receiving the PPE’s on behalf of the Koforidua polyclinic and promised to put them to good use.



Also, Hon. Oteng Adu, the Municipal Director for (NHIS) received the items on behalf of the office, said his staff has been grouped and working on a shift system due to the COVID-19 and the social distancing protocols.

He continued by encouraging the public, particularly those on NHIS to frequently use mobile phone renewal app to renew their health insurance card to help prevent people from being infected with the COVID-19.

Madam Gladys Prah and Nana Yaa Serwaah as Queen mothers for Juaben Serwaa and the Central markets respectively received the items and assured to share it equally to their sectional Queens within the markets.
