Throwing more light on the project, the District Chief Executive, Kudjo Edmund Attah said “I think the clarion call is on us to support the central government so that we can ease these congestions and all that and then of course, if you are doing so, then we are helping in this free SHS project”.

According to him, due to the free SHS policy, they have had some skyrocketing enrolment figures since 2018 and there is the need to do so much.

He revealed that though the government through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has provided a 500-bed capacity boys dormitory as well as a 12-unit classroom block which is undergoing some minor fittings, it was important for the assembly to also intervene to provide other equally important facilities like the 6-unit block.

At the Vakpo Senior High Technical School which according to the MCE was also under some deprived conditions, he decided to expand the general infrastructure for the school by way of water and electricity. However, currently, through the support of the Coastal Development Authority, the School is being provided with a new dining hall facility.

He added that the current environment which is used as the dining hall is pathetic, and as a leader he has to intervene to have the situation resolved which is yielding result.
