Atwima M: NADMO sensitizes road users

The Atwima Mponua National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) organized a public sensitization program with the theme “Enhancing road safety, the role of stakeholders” at Nyinahin.

The event, which was organized on Tuesday 7th November 2023, at Atwima Mponua district assembly conference room aimed at educating commercial drivers/ private drivers, passengers, and pedestrians on the importance of road safety and highlighted the crucial role that each stakeholder play in ensuring safety. A presentation was done on road safety by the Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) of Ghana Police service.

Mr. Wiafe Station officer for MTTD during the presentation outlined some measures in addressing road accidents. These are; Driver’s avoiding distraction whiles driving, avoid using mobile phones whiles driven, avoid drunk driving, take rest when needed, avoid overspeeding, respecting road signs and driver’s licence.

In an interview, the District Director of NADMO, Mr. Otuo Acheampong Rabbi emphasized on the need for all stakeholders to support the campaign to ensure safety on our roads before, during and after Christmas. He assured that his office will continue to collaborate with various institutions, transport unions to ensure safety on our roads.

The collaboration according to the director, will serve as basis for continuous road safety campaigns within the district. Regular workshops, training sessions and awareness campaigns will be organized to reinforce the significance of road safety in the minds of the general public.

By actively involving stakeholders and the public, Atwima Mponua NADMO hopes to inspire individual stakeholders to take responsibility for their actions on the road and contribute to the collective effort of creating safer roads for all.

The event was climaxed with public engagement which took place at Nyinahin market and in front of Nyinahin Government Hospital where drivers, passengers, traders and pedestrians were engaged.
