The Atwima Mponua District at its 2nd Ordinary general Assembly meeting held on the 27th October 2022 zoomed in on local economic development.

Addressing the members of the House in his executive report, Mr. Isaac Kofi Marfo mentioned that, Atwima Mponua, a cocoa hub in the country received low public education on the cocoa rehabilitation program which he believes will defeat the purpose of the local economic development agenda.


He also touched on other opportunities to drive the agenda in the making of soaps, increasing rice production and planting more coconut and palm nut seeds in most communities.

He noted that, when the assembly is able to explore on the potential of the agrarian populace within the district, it shall increase the household income of the indigenes which will translate into wealth in communities for the betterment of all.

Mr. Marfo also stated that, he and his management have taken steps to complete and operationalize health facilities at Bedabour, Okyerekrom and Bedabour and also connect these communities to the national grid. In addition, the affable and diligent Chief Executive added the completion of the Tano Odumase Police Station to beef up security in that community and its adjoining communities. This he said, it’s very necessary because of the yet to be opened Odumase Nursing training School.


Mr. Brian Afriyie of the Budget Unit gave a thorough presentation on the 2023 composite budget and fee fixing resolution. He admonished the Assembly members to own revenue mobilization in their respective commmunities to help rake enough revenue for the district assembly. He noted that, nothing can be done without revenues from their communities.

The district manager for Cocoa Health Extension Division, Mr. Okuampah also gave a presentation on the activities of his office. He stated that, Cocobod has outsourced the rehabilitation program to a private organisation for better out and increase productivity. In addition, he urged the task force at the community levels to be vibrant and asked the Assembly members to play a pivotal role.


The Cocobod officer indicated that, his outfit has rehabilitated a total of 376.87 hectors of Cocoa which includes 441 farms within the district.

The assembly members asked questions which was ably and aptly answered by the officer and this recieved a sounding clap from them.
