A 14 member management team has been inaugurated at Mamponteng, the district capital of the Kwabre East district to manage the water and sanitation issues in the Mamponteng Township.

A 14 member management team has been inaugurated at Mamponteng, the district capital of the Kwabre East district to manage the water and sanitation issues in the Mamponteng Township.

The team shall be responsible for the management of piped water systems and the promotion of good sanitation and hygiene in the Mamponteng Township. It is also mandated to manage proceeds from the water sold and ensure transparency and accountability on behalf of the community.

The team is chaired by Dr. BaahGyamfi, a lecturerat the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi with Mr. E. K. Acquah an ex-educationist as the secretary.

Other members are Miss. R. S. Amankwaah (Trader), Mr. Samuel Anyan (Buillding Contractor), Mallam I. Mohammed (Farmer), Dr. Kofi Annan (Lecturer KNUST), Mr. Kofi Donkor (Businessman), Mad. AbenaSerwaa and Mrs. Mary Amoako both traders.

The rest are Nana OppongBritwum (Akyeamhene, Mamponteng), Mr. Daniel Fofie (District Planning Officer), Mr. Collins OwusuAnsah (District Community Water and Sanitation Officer), Hon. Michael AfrehGyimah and Hon. Joseph Amankwah both AssembIy members for Mamponteng.

Inaugurating the team, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Adams Iddisah admonished members to be innovative in their dealings as the Mamponteng township was fast developing. He added that with due diligence, they can achieve more for the town in order to improve on the success chalked by their predecessors.

He also admonished members to work in unity in order to achieve the purpose for which they have been formed.

The DCE also pledged the Assembly’s support for the team in providing them with the logistics needed to make their work a success.

The Regional Director for CSWA, Mr. Amankwah Boateng said the community water sanitation projects has been of great benefit to schools, hospitals, churches and communities in the region of which the district is a great beneficiary.

He also applauded the community for sustaining the project for the past years and appealed to them to extend it to all communities in the district. He added that though the project is in the district, it actually belongs to the town folks.

The Mampontenghemaa, Nana KyerewAkenten, also called on the new team to have the Mamponteng town at heart and work for the numerous people who rely on water for their survival.

Dr. Kofi Annan a member of the team thanked the authorities for the honour done them and assured the authorities that they will do all within their means to justify the confidence reposed in them by the leadership of the town.

The mandate of the team is four years.
