KWABRE E: DCE endorsed by Assembly Members

Hon. Adams Iddisah’s re-nomination for the position of the District Chief Executive for the Kwabre East District Assembly has been approved overwhelmingly by Assembly members after his first attempt was thwarted some few weeks ago.

Hon. Adams Iddisah’s re-nomination for the position of the District Chief Executive for the Kwabre East District Assembly has been approved overwhelmingly by Assembly members after his first attempt was thwarted some few weeks ago.

Hon. Iddisah polled 36 out of the 42 votes cast representing 85.7% with only 6 votes going against his re-nomination, at a special meeting organized by the house to either confirm his re-nomination or veracity by the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama in accordance with the Model Standing Order for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies Part Four Order 16 (10) amended.

It would be recalled that Hon. Iddisah failed in his first attempt some four weeks ago to get the two-thirds votes required to enable him maintain his position as the Chief Executive for the district. He only managed 21 out of the 42 votes cast.

There was a spontaneous response of excitement and jubilation in the hall and its surroundings when the electoral officer, Mr. Emmanuel Kyei declared the outcome of the polls.

In a brief address to the Assembly members before the commencement of the voting, Hon. Iddisah appealed to the house to vote massively for him to enable him continue with what he has started for the district and also appealed for forgiveness if he offended anyone in the discharge of  his duties.

Hon. Samuel Yaw Adusei, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister who was the special guest of honour also appealed to members of the house to vote for the President’s nominee for continuity in development.

Earlier, seven out of the 13 government appointees in the house were replaced with new members to promote the interest of the government in the house. Those who were replaced included Kwame Agyemang, Atta Kwakye Nathaniel, Nana Oduro Agyarko II, Nana Frimpong Manso, Fatao Illiyasu, Baulawu Abubakari and Hawa Iddrisu.

Those who were sworn in by His Lordship Justice William Boampoh to represent the government’s interest in the house were Abdul Karim Muntari, Nana Kofi Boadu, Charles Berko, Atta Poku Afrifa, Madam Amina Ibrahim, Ofori Atta and Hussein Yussif Alfa.

Also present at the meeting were Mr. Kwaku Kaakyire Oppong-Kyekyeku, DCE for Afigya-Kwabre, Mr. Charles Oti-Prempeh, DCE Amansie West, Mr. Edward Kusi Ayarkwah also the DCE for Sekyere South.
