The woes of students especially those in second cycle institutions in the Bongo District are far from over as a number of infrastructure projects initiated by GETfund have been abandoned.

Eventually, the schools could not improve on their enrolment as there was no adequate infrastructure to accommodate the additional populations.

District Chief Executive for the area, Alexis Ayamdor said the projects when completed would bring significant improvement to the schools especially providing opportunities for more qualified students from the junior high schools to gain admission as well as enhance teaching and learning because overcrowding would be reduced in the classrooms.

The projects include 18-unit classroom blocks each at Gowrie and Zorko, 300 capacity dormitories each at Gowrie and Zorko, dining hall and kitchen complex at Gowrie among others.

He said the situation is not different at the basic schools with a number of uncompleted school projects doted around the district. According to him, several enquiries from the contractors indicated that they are unable to complete because funds have not been released. Others who are still working are rather working at a slow pace.

The DCE therefore appealed to GETfund to intervene to ensure these projects are completed on time.
