Members of the Kadjebi District Assembly on Tuesday confirmed President John Mahama’s nominee to the post of District Chief Executive (DCE).

After two rounds of voting, Mr Jacob Allabinde Asokonde, a development consultant, got 40 votes in his favour with 11 votes against in the second instance, representing 78.4 per cent, to get the nod in the 51-member Assembly.

Mr Asokonde thanked President Mahama for nominating him to the position, and the Assembly members for the trust of confirmation.

He pledged to unite all factions in the District to pave the way for development.

In his remarks Mr Kwasi Aboagye, Volta Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress said the delay in confirming the DCE was a dent on the area’s development and called on dissenting voices to bury the hatchet.

There was heavy Police presence resulting from an earlier press conference by the paramount chiefs of the area concerning the eligibility of the nominee.
