Poor transportation system in the North Gonja district is largely posing as a disincentive to farming business with most farmers finding it difficult to cart their farm produce to market centres.

Within the district there are several communities that are cut-off from major towns because of inaccessible roads and poor transport network, which extensively slows agric activities for peasant farmers in the district.

District Chief Executive for the North Gonja Assembly, Sorku Kasim Yahuza highlighting on the issue said the whole district is critically an overseas district, with several water bodies and rivers making transportation difficult for the local dwellers.

Following this Mr. Yahuza said the assembly has resolved to open up the area through road construction since the district is predominantly a farming area.

He indicated that good transport network from farm to market centres was crucial to the promotion of agric, adding that it was against this backdrop that the assembly managed to procure a bulldozer from JA Plant Pool to support road construction projects in the area.

He said yearning to improve the road network in the whole area, the assembly in conjunction with feeder roads have started working on selected roads in Daboya and the surrounding areas, saying that all things being equal they will attend to Mankarigu roads very soon.
