Professor Omane Antwi, Vice Rector of the Pentecost University College, has called on teachers to adopt child-friendly teaching approaches to ensure good performances and learning in schools.

This, he said, would reduce the disparity between pupils who are quick learners and their slower counterparts, to ensure quality education.

Prof. Antwi said pupils should be prepared to be life learners, who could communicate effectively, access information and to logically and critically think to become productive members of society.

He was addressing the second speech and prize giving day of the Nkawkaw Pentecost Preparatory School, which was on the theme: “Enhancing Quality Education; the Role of the Private Sector.”

The Vice Rector said the establishment of private schools was supplementary to Government’s efforts at providing quality education, hence the need to ensure that they continue to perform better.

Dr Yaw Yeboah, Director of the Church of Pentecost Social Services, said the school’s enrollment continues to increase with the current population at 1,137, which makes it the biggest school of the church in the country.

He commended the staff and management of the school for the sterling performance in last year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination as well as the biennial Pentecost schools quiz and game competition.

Mr Bernard Ofosu Yeboah, Headmaster of the school, said the educational institution was adjudged the best basic school in the Kwahu West Municipality in 2012 due to the high discipline of the children and the teachers.
