LAWRA:Assemblyman wants electrification expanded to Kopare, Zimuopare

The Assemblyman for Ko electoral area, in the Lawra district, Sylvinus Sienekpine is pleading for an intervention from government to connect Kopare and Zimuopare communities within the Lawra district to the national grid.

The Assemblyman for Ko electoral area, in the Lawra district, Sylvinus Sienekpine is pleading for an intervention from government to connect Kopare and Zimuopare communities within the Lawra district to the national grid.

He disclosed that inhabitants living in these communities have no access to electricity for a long period now, which to some extent is slowing the growth and development of these areas.

Highlighting this in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, Mr. Sienekpine noted that although the Rural Electrification Project (REP) is ongoing for other areas, these two communities have thus been neglected, and therefore called on the assembly to consider ways of expanding the electrification project to such areas within his jurisdiction.

He also claimed the water situation in the area was worrying as many communities do not have the opportunity to access potable water for use in their various homes.

He stressed that most environs or surrounding communities within his electoral area depend highly on the Ko dam which is always characterized by heavy pressure.

He observed that if there were adequate boreholes at vantage points in the communities where inhabitants could rely on, it will inure the benefits of the people and also boost the quality lives of the people.

Elsewhere within the same area, the Assembly member has mentioned that staff quarters for health workers of the Ko Polyclinic is inadequate resulting in accommodation problems for some unfortunate ones.

Following this, he has called on the assembly and stakeholders to assist bring a relief to the nurses and staff of the facility by helping to construct additional bungalows and quarters to support their wellbeing in the area.
