The 600-meter dam when completed will be the largest dams ever under the government's flagship policy which seeks to facilitate all year farming in the north.

At the site, workers were seen busily fixing drainage pipes and other things to ensure that the pressure of the water could be reduced in order to avoid damage to the dam should the dam overflow its banks, MCE disclosed.

The MCE with his team was conducted round the site by the engineer at site, The dam which is one of the 7 dams including the GPSNP dams in the municipality either under construction or yet to be constructed is located at Yikpe.

Some other communities benefiting from this first phase of the one village one dam policy in the municipality include Kunyukuo, Brifoh, Zambo, Dowine. Berwong and Eremon Yagra are equally beneficiaries of these dams but on a different programme called the Ghana Productive Safety Net. Contractors are currently on-site in most of these communities working assiduously around the clock before the rains set in.
