The exercise brought together the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Hakeem Antwi Abdul, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Mark Addo, heads of departments, Assembly Members, Assembly staff, political leaders, and residents, all of whom participated in clearing drains, sweeping streets, and removing refuse from public spaces.
Addressing participants during the exercise, Hon. Hakeem Antwi Abdul commended the people of Amuana Praso for their active involvement and commitment to maintaining a clean environment. He stressed that good sanitation should become a daily responsibility rather than an occasional activity.
The DCE urged residents to cultivate the habit of regular community clean-up exercises, proper waste disposal, and environmental stewardship to help prevent the outbreak of sanitation-related diseases.
He further reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to supporting sanitation initiatives across the district through sustained public education and collaboration with traditional authorities, Assembly Members, and community leaders.
Hon. Hakeem Antwi Abdul noted that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility and called on all stakeholders to continue working together to ensure that communities within the district remain clean, safe, and healthy.
Following the clean-up exercise, the DCE visited the Roman Catholic Junior High School (JHS) at Amuana Praso to inspect the condition of the school's infrastructure. The visit formed part of the Assembly's efforts to assess public facilities and identify areas requiring intervention to improve the teaching and learning environment.
The Birim North District Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to promoting environmental cleanliness and implementing programmes that improve public health and enhance the well-being of residents across the district.
