The Member of Parliament (MP) for Central Tongu, Mr. Gabriel Roosevelt Hottordze, announced the development, describing it as a significant milestone in the district's drive to improve road connectivity and promote economic growth.

According to the MP, the district's inclusion followed sustained lobbying and collaborative engagements with the Central Tongu District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Dodzi Addison Mornyuie.

Under the GMACP, approximately 1,050 kilometres of feeder roads will be rehabilitated across selected regions of Ghana, with 11 districts in the Volta Region, including Central Tongu, expected to benefit.

Mr. Hottordze said the project would provide year-round access to markets, improve connectivity between farming communities and trading centres, reduce post-harvest losses, and facilitate the efficient movement of people, goods, and agricultural produce.

He noted that the intervention would also enhance livelihoods by creating easier access to economic opportunities for farmers, traders, and transport operators.

"The inclusion of Central Tongu in this project is a major step towards addressing our feeder road challenges and unlocking the economic potential of our communities," the MP stated.

Mr. Hottordze expressed gratitude to all stakeholders whose efforts contributed to the district's selection and reaffirmed his commitment to working with the Government, development partners, and the District Assembly to ensure the successful implementation of the project.

He added that the rehabilitation of the feeder roads would complement ongoing infrastructure development initiatives and accelerate the district's socio-economic transformation.

The Ghana Market Access and Connectivity Project is designed to improve rural transport infrastructure by upgrading critical feeder roads to boost agricultural productivity, expand market access, and strengthen the resilience of beneficiary communities.
