‘Good motivation brings excellent performance from pupils’ – MCE advocated

New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi has advised headteachers of the basic schools within the Municipality to practice the skill of good motivation by creating a cordial relationship with their subordinates (teachers) and more especially on the pupils to produce excellent performance in their endeavors.

The MCE made this statement in reference to the abysmal performance of candidates who sat for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination of the New Juaben South Municipality, hence, compelled the Assembly to organize a maiden forum for the heads of the public basic schools, to analyze and discuss the ways of assisting the pupils to do well in the upcoming exams.

He was optimistic that the management and education directorate are poised to support the school going age, therefore we also expect you, headteachers of the various schools to ensure that New Juaben South is counted as one of the best Municipal’s in line with good BECE grades. “With hard work and determination, it is possible to attain such as success” he stated.

He admonished the headteachers to abstain from any form of personal sentiment that may have triple effects on the teachers and the candidates but instead, coordinate well with their teachers to improve academic performance of the pupils who are the future leaders of the country.

Touching on indiscipline issues in the schools, MCE said, the School Management Committee (SMC) must help enforce and instill discipline that conform with the standards of Ghana Education Service (GES).

He said the necessary disciplinary rules must be applied to sanction teachers who portray insolent behavior that will affect the ethics of the school, ‘insubordination will no longer be encouraged’ he added.

He again mentioned that the Assembly will soon organize ‘best teacher award’ as a form of incentive to motivate the teachers within the Municipality to excel well in their work.

Speaking on infrastructure matters the Municipal Coordinating Director, Edward Abazing mentioned that it is certainly true the infrastructural situation of schools in the Municipality is not encouraging, but the schools should incorporate the habit of maintaining the existing infrastructures in the schools to reduce the expenditures on putting up new infrastructures.

Adding on, he entreated the schools not to hesitate to call for help as the Assembly is always ready to support in the infrastructural maintenance.

The Municipal Education Director, Mr. Mustapha Haruna Appiah gave an assertion that the Education directorate is there to coordinate the affairs of the various schools in the Municipality, therefore, the headteachers should channel their respective challenges to the office for a rapid response.

He added that good coordination and understanding of their work will help build and improve the pupils’ academic results, overtly passing well in their final exams with an intense effort and determination.

He then cautioned the teachers not to use their area stay as an excuse to be late at school, since their work follows a particular standard.

He further called for unity among all headteachers and their subordinates to enable the candidate to pass well.
