LAWRA: MCE boasts of improved infrastructure across sectors

The Municipal Chief Executive for Lawra, Martin Bomba-ire has expressed his delight about the enormous infrastructure development that the Assembly has embarked on since coming into office.

At a Social Auditing forum to promote citizens’ participation and community ownership of developmental projects organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at Kalsagri in the Lawra Municipality, the MCE enumerated a number of projects undertaken by the government.

He enumerated water, roads, employment, and electricity projects, and noted that, the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways who doubles as a Member of Parliament for Lawra Constituency, Anthony Karbo, has been very instrumental in lobbying for the numerous projects including the 155 boreholes in the Municipality.



The MCE said within this short space of 3years, the government through Karbo has drilled close to 100 boreholes with a targeted number of 155 across the municipality, and Kalsagri Electoral Area has also benefited five solar-powered mechanized water system at Nafiirnyuori.

Mr. Bomba-ire explained that a contract has already been awarded for the construction of the Kalsagri -Pavuu to Babile road and the construction of new culverts along the road have begun to pave way for traveling, adding that, Construction of a bridge to link Pavuu and kulagan too has also been awarded to a contractor.



MCE said, the Kalsagri community and its environs have not been left out in the numerous job opportunities created by the government and this includes Youth in Afforestation, sanitation, NABCO, stating that the Assembly has been able to connect electricity to the only CHPS compound that was donated by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to enable the nurses to store vital drugs.

The MCE, however, advised the Youth to desist from violence especially in this year’s election.

He added that he has distributed over 200 face masks and hand sanitizers to the people urging them to protect themselves from the deadly coronavirus by always following the protocols.



The MCE commended the Municipal NCCE office and the director for his efforts to bring accountability to the doorsteps of the citizenry. He also commended the Upper West regional director of NCCE for traveling this far to take part in the programme and encourage the commission to continue to organize such forum especially areas that have not been visited yet.
