GRDA holds stakeholders meeting in Bekwai
The Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Railway has engaged stakeholders and residents of Bekwai ahead the construction of Eduabin-Obuasi section of the western railway lines.

The construction is expected to pass through Asanso, Kensere and Pepedan in the Bekwai municipality to Obuasi.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr. Kwaku Kyei Baffour in his remark said that the construction of the railway line will create direct and indirect jobs in the affected towns.
He further said that the project, when completed, will reduce road traffic accidents, congestion and pollution on roads nationwide as the railway serves as an alternative means of transportation.
He then thanked all participants for honoring the invitation and encouraged them to cooperate with the project team for the benefit of the people in the affected towns. He further assured the team of his total commitment and co-operation.
The leader of SAL Consults, Ing. Samuel Boadu said his team was consulted primarily to undertake environmental and social impact assessment and it involves engaging the assembly members, unit committee members, traditional authorities and opinion leaders of the affected towns.
He explained that they will liaise with the Land Evaluation Department to value affected properties and compensate their owners accordingly.
