Inter-schools science, technology, and mathematics education camp held at bogoso
The maiden edition of STMIE Camp has been organized at Bogoso in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly to boast student’s interest in Science and Mathematics.

The participating schools included Golden Age School Complex, Aboso Catholic School, St. Matheew Anglican school at Huni-Valley, St. James Anglican School at Bogoso, Richard Graham School,Aboso Catholic JHS, Purity School, Prestea SDA and Nana Amankwa Model.
Among the items exhibited included a Pinhole camera, a modern mosquito stand, resistant vegetative propagation (to propagate resistant and numerous plantain suckers), a Periscope, a moving toy vehicle, blender, a mower, paper trucks and bus, dustbins made from sticks, door mat, table cloth, tool for testing for acidity and alkalinity of water, water heater and biogas.
In her address, the Municipal Education director in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly, Madam Mary Vida Kwofie said, most children are not interested in Science and Mathematics even though they are interesting subjects.
She said, a camp like this will boast the students’ interest in Science and Mathematics. She added that, it will also unearth and develop students and pupil talents in the area of Mathematics and Science. She added that, those who took part will represent the Municipality in Takoradi. She hoped that, participants would apply what they learnt to their daily life and the community as well.
The Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Mozart Kwaku Owuh thanked the teachers and the education authorities for organizing such programmes. He assured the students of full support from the Municipal Assembly, he promised each of the participating school of some quantities of desks.
Mr Owuh urged them to come back to the Municipality as winners with either first, second or third position from the regional level. He challenged them to take keen interest in Mathematics and Science as they can easily divert to other fields.
He however prayed that, one of the students present represent their school in the National Mathematics and science Quiz (NMSQ) in the near future. He encouraged the students to study hard so as they become successful person in future. Take your books and your bibleds seriously, he added.
