PHMA Commissions one Number two-unit classroom block with ancillary facility at Wassa Damang

The Prestea Huni valley municipal has commissioned a one number two-unit classroom block at Damang in the Prestea Huni valley municipal. The building which is a Kg block has two classrooms, a dining hall, washroom, kitchen, toilet, teachers’ quarters’ staff common room, a mechanized borehole, and a storeroom.

Nana Amoakwa who was represented by the Ga Adamgbe chief said, that the number of works done in the Municipality by the Member of Parliament is more than those done by the 8 years of the previous government. He was optimistic that even though Hon. Barbara Oteng Gyasi lost her seat she will get a ministerial appointment and if she does, she should not forget the municipality especially Damang.

The education director who was represented by Mr. Buabeng said the facility was part of the governments’ effort to extend teaching and learning to all. The development of every nation depends on learning. that was why it is great to start with the little ones. He applauded the municipality for ensuring that the little ones move from poor rooms to good classrooms. He pleaded with the community and all stakeholders who have a role to play to ensure that the building lasts long for the next generation to also benefit from it.

The MCE said within the four years of the NPP Damang has had its fair share of the national cake as sod had been cut for a new market and an Arts training center at Damang. He promised to continue to bring development to Damang. Most of the projects were built by goldfields but the assembly can now boast of some projects in Damang. He urged the teachers to take good care of the facility. He said the facility is meant for children and not for the elderly hence the entire community should desist from using it.

The headmistress of the school was pleased that the assembly and the MP responded to their plea for classroom block. She however pleaded for additional classroom block for their primary school as it is a new school. They also requested trained teachers as only one NABCO person is teaching in the school. The rest are all community teachers. They finally requested for school feeding.

The MP Lawyer Barbara Oteng Gyasi on her part thanked God for bringing us unto a new year. She said to ensure all children benefit from schooling the president brought about free SHS. She added that to improve technical and vocational education in the country, the president is building a state of the arts Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) will be built in the country and one will be built at Aboso. On tourism, she said to improve tourism in the country, and arts training school is being built at Damang to improve upon knowledge of the citizenry on bead making, textile making, and leatherwork among others.

For building is to ensure that Kindergarten and basic infrastructure in the municipality are improved so that the children get quality schooling. Parents should do their part by ensuring that their children go to school to learn a learn well, she said. Learning today will help them in different spheres of life tomorrow. Mrs. Oteng Gyasi emphasized that the assembly and the government are doing their part but are up to the children to also go to school, learn and become good citizens. The child she said is the father of a man. Meaning what the child will do now will determine his future and the children today will give birth to men tomorrow. It is up to the children to also do their part. Finally, she said Government has tasked the gender minister to ensure that school feeding is sent to all schools.
