Minister cuts sod for commencement of astro turf project

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and former Member of Parliament (MP) for Anyaa Sowutuom-Constituency, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has cut sod for the commencement of an Astro Turf project at Kokompe Park.

The former MP Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey in her address said the project would create opportunities for the youth in the community while putting the Municipality in the limelight.

The sports complex which after completion would be named after the Minister is also intended to provide an avenue for the nurturing of the youth in the area of sports.


“When we have a vibrant sporting life, it has its advantages. It opens up opportunities for commercial success and serves the community as well”, the Honorable Minister said.

Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency, advised the youth to make good use of the Astro turf when completed and properly manage it to ensure its longevity.

He went further to thank the Minister for her hard work for the constituency and promised to name a school after her.


The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, Dr. Emmanuel Lamptey, who announced his imminent exit from the assembly as the MCE, wished the incoming MCE well and asked whoever replaces him to work hand in hand with the MP of the constituency.

The MCE on behalf of the constituent express his profound gratitude to the Minister for such a wonderful initiative which help in the development of the municipality that his constituency. “It would be a great honor for the famous Ghanaian football teams to play on the pitch”, he reiterated.

He further thanked the Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey for her hard work and finally named the Astro Turf after her.
