Following the exponential spread of the invincible killer disease (COVID -19), Father Sarpong noted that sticking to only prayers as a defensive approach will be a weak move on the part of Christians.

Rev. Father Emmanuel Sarpong in a sermon urged Ghanaians to wash their hands regularly with soap under running water, apply sanitizers on their hands frequently among others aside prayers.

He stated that there are other things that are humanly possible to save us from catching the disease.

Since the news came out on how the new strain of the virus is fasting seeping into other counties including those in Africa, a number of churches in Ghana have instituted the observances of fasting and prayers as a combative option against the spread of the disease and have as a result given little or no attention to what public health professionals are saying vis-à-vis safety measures.

According to the assertion of the Rev. Father Sarpong, “it not always a matter of prayer, it is good to pray and I believe in prayers but let us do what is humanly possible and God will handle the rest” he said.

Rev. Father Emmanuel Sarpong also appealed to drivers to be mindful when using the roads, especially when traveling on long distances in order to reduce the alarming rate of roads accidence.
