COVID-19: Offinso North MP gives PPEs to health directorate

The Member of Parliament for Offinso North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Collins Augustine Ntim, has donated preventive items to the Health Directorate for onward distribution to health facilities and other public places in his constituency.

The MP who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development presented the items as part of his contribution in the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 disease.

The items include; Veronica Buckets, several pieces of hand washing liquid soap, hand sanitizers, gloves, nose masks, a motorbike, thermometers and several pieces of tissue paper among others.



Speaking at the presentation ceremony on that move, Mr. Collins Ntim said as part of fighting against the pandemic, he donated these items knowing that health workers happen to be the frontlines of the pandemic; therefore, there is the need to help them protect themselves.

He also advised them to only rely on news from the World Health Organization (WHO), Ghana Health Service (GHS) website for Coronavirus and Ministry of Information for updates on Ghana's situation on the virus.



He, therefore, charged them to disregard all false information about COVID-19, especially that on social media in other to avoid fear and panic.
He said there are other PPEs to be distributed to other people in the communities very soon.

The District Chief Executive for the area, Mr. David Kwasi Asare, thanked the MP for that massive support. He then promised to make sure the items are evenly distributed.



On his part, the District Director of Health, Mr. Richard Avagu also thanked the MP and said the items will really help them in fighting against the pandemic.

He, therefore, advised the people of the area to follow the directives put in place by the President to avoid the spread of the deadly COVID-19.
