MCE visits brifoh SHS to assess situation of Girls Dormitory Fire

The MCE for Lawra Hon Martin Domotiere Bomba-Ire on the early hours of Friday rushed to the Brifoh SHS to assess the situation of the damage in the fire that guttered the girls dormitory in the early hours of Friday.

Upon arrival the MCE was briefed by the Municipal Director of Education, Head teacher of the School and Municipal Director of NADMO that with the help of the community and early arrival of the Ghana National Fire Service the fire was brought under control. He was informed that one room occupied by the girls was completely burnt down. Twelve (12) affected student girls lost all their items completely in the room. The cause of the fire could not immediately be ascertained.



The MCE moved round to assess the situation for himself after which he addressed the students. He commended the students for showing bravery and assisting to bring the fire under control. He entreated the students to be more cautious in their activities to prevent future fire and protect their lives. He urged the students to take advantage of the investments government was making and study hard in spite of the challenges or discomforts they are confronted with.

The MCE directed the GES and the school authorities to take temporary measures to relocate to students to a new location whiles a more permanent solution is explored later.

The Assemblyman Mr Andrews Bizoola for the area thanked the students of the Brifoh JHS who first saw the suspicious smoke and alerted their teachers which eventually led to the timely arrival of the fire service and the administration and other concerned people in the community who supported in bringing the fire under control.
