The project, according to information gathered, is expected to support agricultural activities especially during the harmattan season.

Apart from Jirapa, other communities to benefit from the project include Mwankuri-Chachaa, Bokpieriyiri, Degri and Konsokala-Doggo.

Disclosing this in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, Mr Nicholas Soyiri, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, further added that the project was at the procurement stage with actual work expected to commence soon.

He was confident that work will start as soon as evaluation processes are completed.

“We are still in the procurement stage, contractors have brought in their various bids and made their submissions and evaluation will be done soon and after the evaluation work will kick start”, the MCE said.

He added that the Assembly is also embarking on community engagement to sensitize them about the project and its effect on farming and agriculture as a whole.

“The dam is supposed to assist the people with irrigation during dry season farming.”
