Jirapa Municipal to benefit from 50 hand-pump boreholes
Dr Hafiz Bin-Salih, the Upper West Regional Minister, has said contract for the drilling of 50 boreholes with hand-pumps under the additional financing of Sustainable Rural Water and Sanitation Project (SRWSP) has been signed.

He also said Ullo community in the Jirapa Municipality would benefit from a small Town Water Supply System under the auspices of Community Water and Sanitation Agency
(CWSA).
The Minister was addressing the chiefs and People of Ullo Traditional Area during the 50th anniversary of Naa Alhaji Seidu Amadu Baburonon II, Paramount Chief of Ullo.
Dr Bin-Salih told the people that similar projects and initiatives like the Planting for Food and Jobs, One Village One Dam, the Nation Builders Corps, and the yet to be launched Rearing for Food and Jobs programme have been executed nationwide to improve living conditions.
He cautioned residents to be vigilant and report any suspected terrorists activities in their localities to the police, citing the armed Burkinabe who was arrested in a church at Hamile as an example.
He noted that the arrest was an indication that terrorists have extended their activities to the shores of Ghana.
Dr Bin-Salih urged traditional authorities to use their positions to preach peace and sensitise their subjects against open defecation.
Naa Alhaji Seidu Amadu Baburonon II, Paramount Chief of Ullo Traditional Area, appealed for continuation and completion of abandoned projects started by the previous government.
He said he recently sent a delegation to the Upper West Regional Minister with lists of abandoned and new projects in Ullo Senior High School which the Minister promised to forward for action but since then, there had been no feedback.
e pleaded with government to come to their aid by completing some infrastructure projects initiated by previous government and also construct new infrastructure to facilitate teaching and learning.
He pressed on residents to avoid indiscriminate cutting of trees for charcoal and rosewood.
Parents and guardians were also advised to educate and monitor the studies of their children seriously.
Naa Puowele Karbo III, The Paramount Chief of Lawra Traditional Area, said there was a paradigm shift of chieftaincy role from leading subjects into wars to partnering government for development.
He urged other chiefs to use their wisdoms in solving chieftaincy conflicts in the Region.
He said the humility and good leadership style exhibited by Naa Alhaji Seidu Amadu Baburonon II, Paramount Chief of Ullo Traditional Area, led to the establishment of Ullo Senior High School and elevation of Jirapa into a municipal status.
