The other facilities include apartments for the research staff, residences for twenty-two (22) male and eighteen (18) female inmates of the Weija Leprosarium, and a fence wall.

These were announced by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor, when he together with the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Mercy Quansah and other heads of departments met with the management of the Leprosarium, led by Father Andrew Campbell.

The meeting, held on Thursday, 28th May 2020 at the Weija Leprosarium, was at the instance of the Municipal Assembly.

The diagnostic and research institute for leprosy and other skin diseases is being funded from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and is expected to be completed in twelve (12) calendar months.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Hon Patrick Kumor thanked the management of the Weija Leprosarium for the cooperation with the assembly over the years.

He said though the Municipal Hospital had taken a chunk of the leprosarium's land, they are still willing to give more for the development of the health sector.

Hon Patrick Kumor (MCE), also thanked the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, for his interest and continued support of the Weija Leprosarium.

Father Andrew Campbell thanked the President, the Vice President, and the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly for their support over the years.

He reiterated that building vertically is now more ideal and he hoped that the new structures would follow that pattern in order to have land available for future development.
