Amansie West DCE vows to improve lives

The Amansie West District Chief Executive, Mr. Ollenu Nii Lateh has stated that the vision of the Assembly is to improve the quality of the lives of the people by providing basic services and infrastructure necessary for the people.

This, he said will be hinged on the agenda for job creation, prosperity, and equal opportunity for all.

The District Chief Executive for the area, Mr. Ollenu Nii Lateh speaking with Ghanadistricts.com at his office, also announced that more of the Infrastructure is ongoing and at different levels of completion.

Mr. Ollenu stated that agriculture received a major boost from the government as a result of the implementation of the Planting for Food and Jobs programme, improved seeds, subsidized fertilizers supplied to farmers to enable them to improve not only on crop production but yields as well.

On education, Mr. Ollenu disclosed that the Assembly has seen significant improvement in the sector, adding that they have seen increases in the number of enrolment at the primary and junior high school levels.

He said before they came to office, the district could only boast of six CHPS compounds, and that was a major challenge at the time considering the large population of the area.

Mr. Lateh said the health facilities that are placed at the doorsteps of the people in the communities would help accelerate the attainment of the Universal Access to Health Coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly, goal three.

“The community members, particularly pregnant women used to trek to far distances before access health care, but with the provision of the health infrastructure, coupled with the posting of health staff to the facilities, the trend has now positively changed as the community members can now access health care at their doorsteps in their communities”, he stated.

The DCE also pointed out that the NPP government led by President Nana Akufo-Addo was very passionate about the well-being of the citizenry, particularly the health of women and children, and explained that this informed the decision of the Assembly to make health care one of its topmost priorities
