MCE interacts with pupils at “My First Day At School”

The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South Municipal Isaac Appaw- Gyasi, in the company of the Municipal Education Director, Madam Mavis Yirenkyi, and her deputies visited some basic schools in the Municipality to welcome new entrants into formal education.

The practice which is done every academic year, saw the team visiting eight (8) different schools in the Municipality. The schools visited included Apimpoa Islamic KG, A.M.E. Zion K.G. St. Mary´s Anglican K.G., Nana Kwaku Boateng K.G. A and B, Trom Nyerede M/A basic kG., Nsukwao M/A K.G. and St. Anglican Basic School K.G.

The enrolment on the day was very encouraging and the pupils were very excited to receive some items like biscuits, drinks, pencils, chocolate and crayons among others.



The head Mistress of Trom Nyerede J.H.S in a short presentation appealed to the Municipal Chief Executive to provide the school with security personnel in order to protect the school block and also help solve the leakages of their roofing. She emphasized that windows to the school block are not in a good condition hence paving way for intruders to undertake their unscrupulous activities.

According to her, people sleep at the class rooms during vacations and after school hours using the schools electrical gadgets which later eat into the schools account.



The Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Appaw-Gyasi in his presentation to the eight (8) basic schools in the Municipality with a programme dubbed ``My First Day at School`` encouraged the children to be punctual at school and take their studies serious so as to clam the academic ladder.

The MCE was on the view that the upbringing of children was a collective responsibility for all and sundry since the future of the country depended on them. And that is why the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo have introduce free education for all school going children.



The MCE noted during his tour that, all the schools visited needed proper structures and said the Assembly will do everything possible to improve teaching and learning in the Municipality.
