The presentation is aimed at enhancing teaching and learning in the Municipality.
The donation includes, 300 mono desks, 500 dual desks, 40 Hexagonal tables, 240 chairs for K.G and, 30 tables with chairs for Junior High School pupils.
Speaking to the journalists, the MCE stated that, the donation was a continuation of a similar project carried out by his office last year as part of efforts to support education in the Municipality.
He also said he has tasked the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Victor Degraft Etsisan to get him the list of all the schools in need of furniture in the Municipality.
He continued that, it is not only going to be furniture but will include school buildings and renovations as well.
He expressed hope that the donation would help reduce the furniture deficit in the schools within the Municipality and make the pupils feel more comfortable to enable them to focus on their studies.
“I urge managements of the schools to take good care of the desks and other furniture provided. They should educate the children to keep them clean and safe at all times so as to serve its intended purpose for long”. He advised.
Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiary schools, the representative of the Municipal Director of Education, Madam Benedicta Addo, expressed gratitude to the MCE and his team for the kind gesture and gave an assurance that the items would fairly be distributed to the schools.
She was hopeful that the furniture will reduce the pressure in the classrooms where they have about three pupils sharing one dual desk.
