SHAI OSUDOKU: WUSC, TVET launch investment campaign

The World University Service of Canada (WUSC) together with in TVET Provider has launched a campaign in the Shai-Osudoku District that seeks to create more jobs for the youth in the area.

The programme, which is under the theme: “Innovation in Non-traditional Vocational Education and Skills Training (INVEST)”aims at changing the general perception about male dominated trades, and also to train, educate and create awareness among women about these jobs and their relevance on the market.


The 5 year programme will also help support 5,000 women across Ghana through peer support networks, apprenticeship or mentorship opportunities, gender sensitive benefits, employment opportunities among others and Shai-Osudoku District happens to be one of the selected districts in the country.


Coordinator for the programme, Madam Juliana Ohenewaa Amoako Twum, explained that there is the need to have women who are engineers, solar technicians, welders, mechanics, electricians, contractors among others.


She added that the campaign is in place to curb gender inequalities and to develop an enabling environment for young women through public engagement, apprenticeship and employability.
