KWAHU E: Efforts to improve social infrastructure on course
District Chief Executive for Kwahu East in the Eastern Region, Mr. Isaac Agyapong at the Assembly’s meet-the-press session

The Kwahu East District Assembly is stepping up efforts to address the challenges of inadequate educational infrastructure to positively impact the academic performance of pupils in the district.
District Chief Executive of the area, Isaac Agyapong, said this at the District’s ‘Meet-the-Press’ session held at Kwahu Abitifi on Tuesday.
The media engagement was to give an account of the performance of the local government authority in the district since assuming office in 2017.
He said on education, work is currently ongoing at various places including the
• construction of a 3-story dormitory blocl at Nkwatia Presby SHS,
• 12-unit classroom block at St. Peters SHS,
• construction of 18-unit classroom block at Kwahu Tafo,
• 6-unit Classroom at St. Dominic's secondary school at Pepease among other.
There was also the supply of 1,000 dual and mono desks to basic schools in the district.
He also disclosed that the School Feeding Programme has been increased from 12 to 34 schools in the district.
Mr Agyapong said strenuous efforts have been made to improve some roads in the area to ease farmers and traders' access to market centres in the District.
HEALTH
In the health sector, the DCE said Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compounds were constructed at Kwahu Nteso, 20-bed capacity ward at St. Joseph clinic at Kwahu Tafo for use.
AGRICULTURE
Under Agriculture, fertilizer subsidy, extension outreach for 32,000 as part of the planting for food and Jobs program and that notwithstanding, under the Planting for Export and Rural development they have distributed 3, 200 cashew seedlings to Farmers to improve household income and also 50,000 nursring cocoa seedlings have being distributed to Farmers in the district. The assembly has procure a vehicle and 14 motorbikes to the Agric. Department.
WATER AND SANITATION
The Assembly, he said, is keen on addressing water drilling of 150 mechanize borehole across the district including
and sanitation the assembly has procure sanitary equipment, tools and machinery, embark on street and public cleaning transport to final disposal sites and fumigation challenges in the area to improved sanitation practices also the installation of the street lights exercise is yet to complete including Suminakese, Miaso, Akwasihu among others.
SECURITY
Under security, Mr. Agyapong said the District has support security taskforce to regulate activities of Fulani herdsmen with an amount of Gh 2,050,000 procurement of vehicle for police service.
OTHERS
The Assembly is also making efforts to provide a multipurpose office complex for the district Assemblyand work is currently ongoing.
Under Energy, he said his time of assumption to office, the assembly has extended the rural electrification projects to 13 communities including Ankoma, Miaso among others which has being commission.
SOCIALINTERVENTIONS
Under LEAP program in the district carried out about 13 communities the expansion program, he said has expanded to 175 poor households in the area.

The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) has since origin in 2018, recruited a total of 100 personnel. In other to make our tourist site attractive, the district has come with a blueprint to develop the waterfalls and highest habitable point in the district.
Mr. Bryn Acheampong, the Member of Parliament for the area who double as Minister of state in charge of national security said the government has initiated policies, projects and programs to address the Environmental and socio - economic challenges confronting the people of Ghana.
The assembly will also continue to collaborate with development partners in the realisation of its goals.
