This is to inculcate the spirit of role play so as to encourage and expose them in their learning abilities.

In a short interview with the headteacher of the school, Madam Mary Ahwire was of the view that the school over the years had been inviting professionals such as nurses, doctors, educationist among others to the school to motivate the pupils in their quest of study.

She explained that in order to break the monotony, the school authority agreed to pay a visit to the Akuapem North Municipal Assembly for the children to have an encounter with the Municipal Chief Executive and Heads of the Departments.

Interacting with the pupils, the Municipal Chief Executive, Dennis Edward Aboagye was enthusiastic about the visit as he lauded the head teacher and staff for organizing such a high profile trip.

He said the time was rife for young people to get the right advice and encouragement as they climb the academic ladder and life in general. He opined that if he could site his personal example, he was raised from a humble background and had to fight tooth and nail to breakthrough in life. He added that if somebody like him could come this far, then they do not have any reason to fail in their pursuit of academic laurels.

He told the children that they should count themselves lucky as they were privileged to have everything at their disposal including good environment and teachers to facilitate teaching and learning. As a growing child he did not get textbooks, three square meals and the right people to mentor him yet he has come this far as Municipal Chief Executive. Again he eventually drew inspiration from his grandfather Jerry Quaye Larbi of blessed memory, a one time Member of Parliament and a political Stalwart.

He said he motivated himself through thick and thin to succeed. His current political disposition came as a result of series of political activities rife on campus at the time, as he rose steadily through the ranks. Again he pepped the pupils to take their studies serious and eschew things that would hamper their progress. He spur them on to imbibe the attributes of humility, to stay focus, to identify their weaknesses and above all to challenge themselves to succeed.

Earlier, the Urban Roads Engineer attached to the Municipal Assembly also encouraged the children to stick to their books and avoid things that would not benefit them. She stressed that there is no short cut to success in life. She was of the opinion that before one succeeds, one need to have a careful plan in place and get committed to it. She implored the pupils to be diligent, open minded and above all law abiding in their day to day activities.

She explained that being an Engineer is no mean an achievement but it calls for pragmatic, due diligence and hard work. She charged the pupils to dream big by having a plan and work seriously towards it. She challenged the female pupils not to be overhauled by their male counterparts. She was of the view that they should disabuse that popular perceptions that Engineering is reserved for males.

The occasion was interactive as the pupils used the platform to ask series of questions. Most of the pupils interviewed were humbled by the MCE’s submission and they all agreed that the interaction sessions had changed their perceptions about life in general. One little girl was of the opinion that it does not matter where you are but what you are.
