LAWRA: MCE commends restaurants, shop operators for cooperating to fight COVID-19

The Lawra Municipal Public Health Emergency Committee led by the indefatigable Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Martin Domotiere Bomba-ire, visited shops, bars, restaurants and transport stations in the municipality to ascertain their compliance level in regards to the precautionary measures and directives of the president in fighting this novel disease COVID 19.

This exercise is in line with the committee's line of programmes to ensure that the municipality is ready to prevent the disease.

The Municipal Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Ziem Benard reechoed the need for Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, soap at their respective shops to fight the disease. He led the sensitization and education on the disease during the rounds.

He also at each bar or restaurant dispelled the perception that alcohol prevents COVID 19 adding that, it is even the surest bet to fast death should one contract the disease.

The majority of the people have complied with the directives and people could be seen in some instances busily washing hands and using sanitizers provided by their customers and the few who failed were warned to get all the need items in their chops and bars to prevent the disease.



The MCE commended the chop owners and keepers for their cooperation and urged them not to hesitate to contact the emergency lines provided should anybody is seen with the symptoms of the disease.

He added that the assembly will continue to use all avenues possible in the sensitization drive which include, the radio, information van, and door to door exercise until this disease is completely fought in the municipality and the country as a whole.

The committee is composed of the Ghana Police Service, NADMO, The Immigration Service, Fire Service, GRA, Environmental Health Department, GHS, etc.

The team will continue this exercise to cover other places including both distant and near to ensure that no public place is left uninspected in the municipality.
