Shai Osudoku District Assembly holds maiden “Meet The Press”

The District Chief Executive for Shai Osudoku District Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Daniel Akuffo has said that the assembly has completed and handed over for use, a number of projects that were ongoing or abandoned by his predecessor.

According to him, the Assembly has also rolled out many programmes and projects under the government’s flagship initiatives in various sectors such as water and sanitation, health, education, roads among others.

The DCE revealed this at the assembly’s maiden Meet the Press that was held in Dodowa, the district capital.

In a power point presentation, the DCE noted, that over 40 projects that were at various stages of completion have either been completed or on the verge of completion although he inherited an assembly that was cash trapped.

“The challenges we have gone through seemed overwhelming, with the use of resources within the District and the central government as well as some developmental partners, we have been able to complete some of these projects including newly awarded contracts.”

The DCE therefore seized the opportunity to mention the support provided by some organisation and cooperate bodies in the area, such as Ghana First Company Limited, the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives, Golden Exotic Company Limited and Shine Fell Company Limited for their support in the development in the district.

Touching on some achievements, Mr Akuffo disclosed that the Assembly, enrolled about 1,945 beneficiaries from 60 poor communities including Duffour, Apese, Kortorkor, Landowayor among others onto the new Livelihood Empowerment Programme by the government.

HEALTH

Speaking on successes chalked in the health sector, he again revealed that 7 Community Health Planning Service (CHPS) compounds have been constructed at Doryumu, Renovation of Asutsuare Junction compound, Ayikuma, Tokpo, Dormeliam among others.

EDUCATION

The DCE disclosed to the media about the construction of of No 1 6 unit classrooms Block with ancillary facilities at Osuwem, construction of No. 1 3 – unit Classroom Block with ancillary facilities for Asutsuare Estate D/A Basic school, renovation of 1 No. 4 – unit classroom Block with office and store for Volivo D/A Basic school for use.

ROADS

These projects have being undertaking in relation to roads; Filling of Gravels, leveling and compacting of Osuwem to Osuyom Road, Rehabilitation of Lomeh Bridge at Asutusre, Reshaping of Dodowa – Afienya road.
